Other activities
Starting young with wriggly worms, but who knows?
Each year we do ploughed field walking, looking for flints and pottery. Occasionally there is the chance to excavate and go on field trips. Our Club members have participated in excavations of most periods and have been responsible for discovering Stone Age sites.
Each year we do ‘hands on’ activities such as flint knapping, candle making, making fire by bow drills and strike a lights.
We have object-handling kits that include, Pre-history, Romans, Medieval, 19th Century and Writing Through The Ages.
Conditions
The Club is FREE and open to anyone. From 2004, and to comply with the law, we require that an adult or family member must accompany anyone under the age of eight. Otherwise there are no age limits. We do ask that parents take a turn at staying for an evening to help with supervision.
The Club is run in association with the Young Archaeologist Club and is insured by them, while facilities are provided by Biggar Museums.
